Keeping Your Skin and Hair Radiant Naturally

Archive for May, 2010

I’m a 15 year old girl and i take very good care of my skin. I have a morning and night routine. I use Alba botanica sea mineral cleansing gel (is a natural product), Alba botanica sea kelp facial toner (Natural product), and Nivea classic cream (that i have been using all of my life). I exfoliate my skin once or twice a week (St. Ives apricot scrub but looking into Alba botanica facial scrub which is a natural product) and i use a mask once a week or less (Alba botanica and again, natural) . I use an SPF of 50 Broad spectrum everyday if i go outside. I eat a lot of fruits and drink a lot of water. Do you think i am doing things right? is there a need of using anti-aging products at my age? Or should i just keep doing what I’m doing?
One more thing, I don’t use any makeup either.

Stick with the healthy eating and the water consumption is A+
Do not use Anti-aging products! At your age, by the time you are forty, fifty, and so on it’ll take it’s toll on you and your skin will get to the point where it’s dependent on the product and without it you have a way higher chances of becoming….. loose and wrinkly :o (
Herbal and natural all the way

I went to the drugstore and felt so confused! Avalon, Burt’s Bees, Juicy-something ….

I want natural facial products (particularly a cleanser and moisturizer) that will invigorate my skin, and not make me break out.

Any suggestions?

I’m a busy person, constantly moving from place to place as i travel my skin is exposed, so i decided to use Devita Natural Skin Care – Daily Solar Protective Moisturiser SPF it gives my skin protection throughout the day. I’m happy with its effect and not only that its made from natural components which is very safe to use.

Hey Melissa! I am 23 too and I am already looking at anti-wrinkle creams so I can preserve myself and age beautifully. But you have to do more than just use anti wrinkle cream, so here is what I do to take care of myself.

- I use a sunblock of no less then Spf 70 on my face and spf 50 for my body.
- I carry a parasol to also help block the sunlight since the sun is quite damaging to the skin.
- I take women’s one a day vitamins and vitamin E everyday.
- I avoid sodas and drink mostly water, juice, or tea.
- I wash my face with ponds cold cream
- After I wash my face I use Borie cream to moisturize
- i also use an anti wrinkle firming eye cream twice a day since your eyes are the first to show signs of aging.
- Be sure to wear your sunglasses always to protect your eyes from the suns rays.

natural product means friuts,vegetables,etc etc

I use avocado for my face because I figure it moisturizes my skin and helps get rid of acne (depending on skin type)

I would like some recommendations on more natural products that don’t contain so many chemicals but are still great to use. I want to go more green and wouldnt mind helping the environment and myself.

Looking for things in hair care, skin care, body care, and make up

It is expensive, but I have had great results with Mona Vie which is a natural product from the rain forest. My skin is very soft and since the juice is made from 19 different fruits, it is all natural. Check it out on the web and see all the different things this helps. I just started two weeks ago and have noticed a difference in skin, under eye darkness is lessening, knee joints don’t hurt as much, and I have been sleeping sounder. http://www.mymonavie.com/letsdrinktoyourhealth/
I am not a distributor and that is not my web site! I posted it so that you could read some information on the juice.

Since high school I have used a lot of different skin care products, usually the higher end like estee lauder, clinique, merle norman etc. I never could use grocery/drug store type because I would breakout.

I use something for a few months with great success, and then all of a sudden it stops working. Or, I immediately break out or get dry skin.

I have very sensitive skin, especially to vitamin C, so a lot of anti aging products bother me. I started using Neutrogena products a few months ago and I thought I had found the answer, but now my skin is becoming flaky and has slight red bumps, but not acne.

My question is, where can I go to find the right skin care? I’m tired of trying samples at counters and buying products only to return them. Does anyone have a skin issue and have found a solution, or should I just head to the dermatologist? I’ve tried natural products and they don’t seem to help either.

What can I do?

I can totally relate to you.. I never had the big breakouts like most people had, just lots of redness and tiny bumps all the time. Finding the right combination of products was like a giant chemistry experiment, but I finally have it down.

I stopped washing twice a day because I was overstimulating my skin and I think the products were drying it out. I started using Proactiv, but only at night. It took a few weeks to really show results, but I’ve maintained perfect skin for the last 3 1/2 years. A first for me since the 5th grade! Also, their sulfur mask is like a miracle. I use it a couple times a week when I get breakouts. To remove make-up I use a really gentle remover wipe by the brand Comodynes (I get them at Trader Joe’s). I’ve tried a few different types of wipes, but these seem to work best and don’t sting. I even use them on my eyes. For a moisturizer, I use Aveeno’s skin calming moisturizer. It’s really light, not greasy at all, and has helped get rid of "red face". It’s the only moisturizer I’ve ever been able to use. For make-up, Bare Escentuals can’t be beat – no clogging, nice coverage, and I think it’s actually helped improve the texture of my skin. It’s also super quick and easy to apply.

I hope this helps you. You may still want to consult with a dermatologist because if you do have a skin condition, it may just keep getting irritated by any product you try until you get the condition cleared up. It’ll be worth it though- best of luck to you!

I’d like to start using a natural skin care system that includes a foaming cleaser, toner and moisturizer. Can you recommend any brands? I’ve been looking at the ingredients in the products I have been using and it’s getting harder and harder to use stuff whose names I can’t pronounce!

Specifically ones for anti-aging. I’m 24, and I just started using anti-aging skin care products, but they’ve seemed to make my skin worse! Unevenly toned and a rouch texture. Even though the products claim they fight AGAINST these things! sheesh. Anyways, someone told me its because the chemicals in them must be too harsh for my skin.

Can you recommend any truely great all-natural face wash, toner, anti-aging serum (or whatever), and moisturizer?

The Amazing Vitamin C Skin Lightening Benefits

Having a glowing looking skin requires that you have a daily skin care routine and you use the correct creams and ingredients that will make your skin look younger, whiter, lighter and bright, its known that vitamin c has potent skin lightening benefits.

To have a lighter skin you need to use ingredients that will absorb the UV rays of the sun to prevent the sun from darkening your skin and reduce production of melanin which is responsible for skin darkening.

New discoveries have shown that vitamin C has very good skin health benefits. For example vitamin C as ascorbyl form has been extensively tested, it inhibit the production of melanin, which is the pigment that produces a dark color to the skin.

When Vitamin C inhibits the production of melanin its just a matter of weeks before a brighter and lighter skin appears.

Also vitamin C increases the production of collagen and elastin in the body which reduces wrinkles and aging signs. Vitamin C repairs the skin when is injured and also regenerates vitamin E.

All those benefits of Vitamin C are great, however there have been some concerns about using vitamin C topically. Skin care companies have difficulties using vitamin C on their topical creams because vitamin C is unstable and oxidates when its exposed to the air. If vitamin C oxidates it can produce free radicals on the skin and create damage.

However there are other powerful natural ingredients that inhibit melanin and have natural whitening properties. Extrapone Nutgrass inhibits melanin, lights your skin, enhance your skin and have no harmful side effects.
